The 3 Basic
Body Systems
Treatment can be divided into 3 basic body systems: Chemistry,
Structure, and Electromagnetic. Mental, emotional and spiritual issues
overlay these three basic categories and can also be addressed. With
kinesiological testing, we can evaluate the priority of your body in
terms of what type of treatment that it will accept first. We find that
we achieve better results when we follow your individual needs.
Chemical
Body chemistry exists within the fluid portions of your being. This
chemistry is rapidly changeable. It changes faster than your structure,
and slower than your mind. Imbalances in chemistry can seriously effect
the structural and also the electromagnetic aspects of your body.
Nutrition, medications, air and water quality, chemicals or toxins, as
well as the effect of genetically induced metabolic variations affect
it. Lifestyle habits make a significant difference in the progress of
wellness or disease. One of the biggest challenges facing a health
conscious individual today is good nutrition. Is this supplement any
good? Is it good for me? Is this food really healthy? Questions such as
these plague the consumer.
People often
claim that they have a healthy diet, although may be revealed upon
further questioning that they really do not know what is healthy and
what is not. Even nutritional scientists do not agree. However, research
is continually expanding and exciting new information comes out every
day. Our knowledgeable holistic practitioners will be able to advise you
on diet and lifestyle based on an individual assessment.
Structural
Structure is the system made up of bones, muscles, fascia, tendons,
ligaments, and skin, that work to hold you upright against the
gravitational pull. If your structure is not balanced, muscle and joint
problems may develop, and your sense of balance will either become
maladaptive or create a constant nagging stress on your nervous system.
Correct posture promotes a graceful carriage and adds to your air of
health and dignity, while poor posture can systematically nibble away at
your feelings of self-worth and diminish your strength. There are
various types of structural corrections. Chiropractic adjusting is
probably the best known structural correction in the United States,
however, these spinal manipulations are widely practiced in many forms
all over the world. Other structural therapies include: massage,
craniosacral therapy, neuro-muscular therapy, tuina, myofascial release,
and Rolfing. Applied kinesiology is a diagnostic method of muscle
testing that is used to determine the type of treatment that your body
will most readily accept.
Electromagnetic
This term applies to the subtle energy that surrounds each cell,
molecule, and atom. Each particle radiates an energy field. The more
alive something is, the stronger the energy field that surrounds it is.
In the body, the accumulation of radiant energy from similar cells
combines to make up a field of energy that has multi-layers and many
frequencies, some of which can be measured by modern instrumentation,
and some of which can be perceived by the human senses. Areas of health
care that fall into this category of the electromagnetic include
acupuncture, homeopathy, polarity, magnetic healing, Reiki, and Shen
therapy. Even psychotherapy could be considered in this category of the
electromagnetic, since our thoughts and emotions are energetic
frequencies and can be measured by instrumentation such as the
electroencephalogram (EEG) and the Galvanic Skin Response (lie detector
test).
Working with
these energy fields in the area of health care requires professionals
with training, skill, and sensitivity. Some disciplines such as
acupuncture have become largely accepted, while other types of therapy
are highly controversial, even among holistic health care professionals.
There tends to be a considerable amount of variance between therapies.
Some people respond well to techniques that are very subtle, while
others have more results with concrete, physical types of treatment.
This has a great deal to do with the individuals body type, lifestyle,
perception and participation level, as well as mind set and belief
system. Our staff has a wide variety of training in electromagnetic
types of therapies. We are constantly studying and researching this area
of therapeutics since new uses for ancient techniques are being
presented on an almost daily basis. From the rigorous training involved
in achieving an acupuncture license, to the hours of post-grad education
in orthopedics, neurology, or Chinese herbalism, we strive to be on the
cutting edge of complementary and alternative care.
